2020: Writing Year in Review

It’s that time of year again. Time to look back at the awards-eligible work published by yours truly over the past year.

Last year was a really productive one on the publishing front with a mix of short stories, flash fiction, and even comics out there in the mix. By comparison, 2020 wasn’t a big year for me in terms of having new work out there for folks to read (as you’ll see).

However, writing and acceptance-wise, the back half of this year saw me finishing pretty strong. I have at least 3 stories set to drop in the new year, which I’m hoping bodes well for 2021 overall. (I mean, could it be much worse? Don’t answer that.)

Not only that, but I’ve also connected with some fantastic writers, especially in the horror and dark fiction fields, over the year. Having a network of fellow travelers on the writing road is an invaluable resource. It’s been incredibly exciting to see what other people have done or are doing.

So, without further ado, here’s my “list” for 2020.

August 2020

“Son of the Hook,” horror short story, Hookman and Friends, edited by Zach Friday, DBND Publishing

A young man tracks down the infamous urban legend the Hookman and returns him to his old killing grounds to explain the bloody, violent ties that connect them.
